- How often should I chlorinate my well?
Well chlorination is recommended once a year. This ensures that your water supply remains free of any type of bacteria. Occasionally some wells will produce a sulfur like odor in the water and this can be removed by chlorinating your well. Disinfecting improperly can cause severe damage to the pumping system and the longevity of the well. Please contact Steffl Drilling if you would like assistance chlorinating your well.
- How do you estimate the cost of a well?
The depth and cost of a well is determined by the geological formations encountered while drilling to the water source. We can do research in the area your well will be located to study well histories and geological formations. This information will make your estimate as accurate as possible. The type of pumping system needed for your purposes can also be included in the cost of a well.
- Once you start drilling our well, how long will it take to finish?
Most wells can be finished in one or two days. The amount of time is determined by the depth of the well. The second part of installing a well is the pumping system. This is done after drilling is completed.
- I hear my pump going on and off frequently. Do we need to have it serviced?
There are several things that may be causing the pump to go on and off. It is recommended that the well be serviced as soon as possible to prevent unnecessary stress on the pump and well.
- Do you recommend any kind of maintenance on my well? It seems to be working okay...
We recommend that your well be serviced every 5 years. This is called a pump check. Steffl Drilling also has maintenance programs available depending on your situation.
- No Water?
Check your fuse box or circuit breakers. some systems have a separate fuse box next to the well controls.
